Big Mama

As I mentioned on my previous post Getting Acquainted: Kalanchoe Laetivirens there is something enchanting about this plant. The way it holds its children until they are ready to leave her side and make their way in life, it’s what parenting is all about.

I’ve got two boys. Munch (10) and D.J. (7) and  I can’t help but be curious on where will life take them.  And when this moment comes how will I take it?

That’s what this plant represents to me, that special bond between a mother and her child. You love your child, nurture it, try to pass on the lessons you consider important, protect it because even if at times they can be extremely annoying they will always be the most beautiful.

Big Mama’s greatest lesson is, knowing when to let them go.
